Ricki and the Flash is Meryl Streep's latest film. It is about a middle age woman who is a rockstar who comes to terms with her childeren that she left a long time ago to pursue her dream of being a Rockstar. It costars her daughter Mamie Gummar and was written by Juno's Diablo Cody.
Meryl's performance was great as always. What was the the real shocker was how good her daughter was. I hope that her daughter will get at least a Golden Globe nomination for her perfomance (Meryl will get nominated for her upcomming film Suffragette, how do I know this without seeing the film you might ask? That is simple she is only the greatest actress that has ever lived!)
Anyway, the film is very Libertarian in it's politics but points out the gender inequality issues that neither side is talking about (like why does society praise someone like Mick Jagger for walking out on his wife and kids to become a Rockstar, but if a woman does it she is considerred a demon bitch from hell)
The film is well directed Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) shows that he can do more then high suspense horror and Diablo Cody's script shows that she is just as capable of writing great adult dialouge as well.
I would give this film 4 out of 5 stars
Sorry for this 1 being late it wasn't letting me publish it for some reason so I had to retype my review for it word for word.
